Reflection
An Overview of The Course
Throughout the Spring semester, I’ve learned a lot about myself as a writer. With three essays, numerous journal entries, and being online for the entire semester, I thought that this course challenged me to think critically about my assignments. Prior this class, I was a little nervous. Throughout my last semester in high school, I was online and so I ultimately chose this class because I knew it would be similar to what I experienced before. My lessons were previously quite organized, but the course lecturer, Dr. Carthon, made each task entertaining. She offered us the opportunity to express ourselves as writers, and I feel I can now pinpoint where I struggled and where I succeed as a writer.
My work ethic, I believe, is one of my greatest assets. I do make the effort to write out my views in a clear and straightforward manner. I believe I am capable of clearly articulating a point in my own words. This is something I've been pondering about since I finished Essay 2 on Cultural Appreciation and Appropriation. I was able to discover specific instances of each topic and explain why the examples were positive or negative. I had prepared all of the points and began writing. As a result, working with my group, making a PowerPoint, and everything else went well, and it was a wonderful feeling.
One of my weaknesses this semester, I feel, was time management. I had a hard time getting my journals turned in. However, as time went on, I saw that I was improving. I was continually checking to see if I had completed all of the tasks on time. Another weakness of mine was with grammar, I have a hard time with comma splicing within phrases. After studying it in class, I discovered that the sentence requires an independent clause to function properly.
Overall, I am grateful for this course and the opportunity to show off the way I’ve grown as a writer. I hope you all enjoy my portfolio and can see the growth as well.
Thank you,
